Post a Comment. Dry-hopped twice and completely untouched post fermentation to preserve aroma and flavor. Appearance: Even before I opened the bottle, I could see a good amount of sediment floating around in the bottle, so I had to gently swish it around so it would blend in well rather than having a big clump of sediment at the very end. I was expecting a bit of a gusher when I opened the bottle, but thankfully it was quite tame. The beer pours a very hefty, orange juice-like appearance with a moderate amount of white head on top.
This has a rich presence of orange, pineapple, guava, and mango. There's a light oatiness in there, a bit of a floral hop dr joe dispenza youtube meditation like alfalfa.
I'm really liking this so far. Taste: Again, I'm getting a liberal tropical presence - oranges, guava, pineapple. This time, I'm getting a much larger dosage of the oatiness, giving off a rich cereal presence, followed by a decently bitter hop profile that gives off some pine, some floral notes Well, actually.
I'm feeling a bit of heat from this beer from the few sips I've had. Very tropical, smooth, easy to drink, surprisingly boozy at the end. No comments:. Newer Post Older Post Home. I try not to write about beers that readers may never get a chance to sample so as not to cause frustration. But I also realize that people like to read about things they will never experiences, maybe to live a bit vicariously through those who have.
A few weeks ago, the owners of The Foundry, Sally and Sonny, invited a few friends to a beer tasting. There were many interesting brews, but my favorite was a double IPA from a brewery I'd never heard of. It didn't help that the bottle simply featured an artsy design with no name or words. Luckily, Sally had gotten that information when she bought the brew at a liquor store in Vermont.
The beer, Fatamorgana, is made by a Swedish brewery named Omnipollo. Omnipollo is an award-winning brewery that was founded in by Henok Fentie and Karl Grandin. The duo are apparently what is known as "gypsy brewers" — they conceive their recipes at home, but then travel the world brewing as guests in other facilities. Fatamorgana is one of these beers. Fentie originally hails from Ethiopia and that background set the stage for this brew.
He explains this on the brewery's website:. My parents came from Ethiopia to Sweden in the '70's and got two kids. Me and my brother. Over the years I have gone down to Ethiopia many times, partly to seek my roots but also to experience the wild nature that this incredible country has to offer.
A memory that is particularly vivid to me was a time when I — in the middle of the dry savannah landscape — suddenly stumble into a patch of palm tree jungle within which an oasis was hidden. This is the place where the work with Omnipollo Fatamorgana takes off. Drawing inspiration from the fidelity of a Saison — rustic, alluringly cloudy and crisp — this double IPA 8 percent was brewed using oats and wheat. Hopheads will think that sounds wonderful, and let me tell you: It is.
The beer pours a cloudy gold with a small head. The nose is a tropical delight with citrus notes abounding: grapefruit, mango, and more. The flavor matches the aroma with maybe a touch of pine added.Prices incl. VAT plus shipping costs. Ready to ship today, Delivery time appr. That's never happened before.
